MA France is a French gourmet shop located at 46 Massachusetts Avenue. It is known for its authentic French cuisine, including almond croissants, French pastries, French crepes, croque-monsieur, quiche, and tapas. The shop also offers a variety of cheeses, sausages, and preserves.

The shop is run by a French couple, who are from the Périgord region, East of Bordeaux. They opened their shop to provide French expats and locals in the Boston area with hard-to-find French products. They started with cheeses and then expanded their offerings based on customer suggestions, which included items that customers were bringing back from France in their suitcases.

The shop also offers takeout service. The staff is known for their friendly service, and the shop has been praised for its authentic and delicious food. The prices are considered adequate for the quality of the food.

In addition to food, MA France also offers beverages like espresso, white coffee, and tea. Fresh products, especially the croissants and fresh sausages, sell out quickly, so the Attards encourage customers to reserve them ahead of time

MA France serves a variety of French cuisine, including:

  • Almond croissants: A classic French pastry known for its flaky texture and rich almond filling.
  • French pastry: A broad category that includes various sweet baked goods such as tarts, eclairs, and madeleines.
  • French crepes: Thin pancakes that can be filled with a variety of sweet or savory ingredients.
  • Croque-monsieur: A grilled ham and cheese sandwich that is a staple in French cafés.
  • Quiche: A savory tart filled with a mixture of eggs, cream, cheese, and other ingredients like vegetables or meats.
  • Tapas: Although traditionally Spanish, MA France may offer small plates or appetizers in a French style.
  • Espresso, white coffee, or tea: Beverages to accompany the food offerings

Sabrina’s take: This unassuming bakery actually ships their products from France, and sells them right here in our town of Lexington. On the edge of Arlington and Lexington, has great pastries, especially all of their croissants. They sometimes have tables outside, and they are heavily involved within the community.
